Set Free

Right now, in this present time, many of us are feeling confined, maybe even like we are in a sort of "prison." We are being held hostage to our circumstances.

But I truly believe that our joy, our inner peace, our happiness is really our choice. We can choose peace instead of anxiety, faith instead of fear, hope instead of hurt, freedom instead of bondage.

And it is through the strength of God that we do that. I tried for too many years to will myself better, to pull myself up by my bootstraps, to do it myself. When I SURRENDERED I was set free.

If you are chained to your negative emotions you can choose today to be set free.

And I am praying that our loved ones today, make the same choice.

August 2, 2022 Our prayer for our Loved One today:

Galatians 5:1 MSG
[1] Christ has set us free to live a free life. So take your stand! Never again let anyone put a harness of slavery on you.

Oh, Abba Daddy, we come to you today broken, truly at the end of ourselves. Entrapped by our own fears, anxiety and desire to control. Lord, we ask that you free us! Lord you came to set us free and we desire to receive all that you have for us. And Lord, we humbly desire freedom for (our loved one). You came to give (him/her) a free life. Lord, we pray that today (our loved one) will take a stand. That (he/she) will wake up and say NO MORE! That (he/she) will fully surrender to all that You have for (him/her). Lord, we believe that you can lift the chains of slavery that keep them in bondage. Lord, deliver us all from the things that entangle us. Lift the darkness and bring us into the light. We ask this in your Son's precious name. Amen

It Will Not Be Overdue

As we walk through fear and doubt and hopelessness our armor is to keep His promises in front of us.

While we can't see it, he is creating a beautiful tapestry in each of our lives. The finished product won't be revealed until we meet him face to face. But be assured that what may look ugly to us right now, will come together in the end to be something incredible.

I believe with all my heart that God will use all of this pain, all of the knots, all of the insanity for something very beautiful.

July 31, 2022 Our Prayer for Our Loved One Today

Habakkuk 2:3 TLB [3] But these things I plan won't happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day!

Lord we come before you today worried, fearful, anxious, doubting. What we see around us doesn't always reconcile with your love. So we question. But your word gives us confidence. Your word says that you are working behind the scenes right now in (our loved one's) life. That even though we can't see your work yet, that slowly, steadily and surely the time is approaching when the vision for (our loved one) will be fulfilled. And because of your promises, Lord, we will not despair because we trust that these things will come to past in our life and in (our loved ones) life. Help us to be patient as we walk this difficult journey waiting, trusting, believing that the moment, that moment when (our loved one) says “yes, Lord” will be in your perfect timing and will not be overdue a single moment. Lord we honor your promises and rest in them today. In Jesus precious name we pray. Amen.

Psalm 146:5-8 NIV [5] Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God. [6] He is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them---he remains faithful forever. [7] He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets prisoners free, [8] the Lord gives sight to the blind, the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down, the Lord loves the righteous.

Father God, the God who made heaven and earth, the God I praise you today. You are the faithful one. You are my help and my hope. Lord, you are the only hope for (our loved one), the One who upholds (our loved one), who takes up (his/her) cause, who provides (him/her) food, who is able to heal (our loved one) and who holds the power to set (him/her) free. Lord, we ask today that (our loved one) would pause long enough to hear your voice and that (he/she) would find rest in you. We pray that (he/she) would receive the strength and love and freedom that can only come from you. Lord, we trust that you are at work and that in your perfect timing, your love will lead them home. Refresh Me

You are weary.

You are bruised and bloody from the inside out from the battle you fight every day.

Yet you won’t give up. So you keep fighting.

This simple prayer is for all of us.

Lord I need you to refresh me.

Refresh my sisters and brothers who are on the front lines.

And refresh our loved ones who are struggling to break free from the shackles that hold them prisoner.

Lord, we come to you today weary, weak and wounded. Lord we are determined but tired. And Lord we know that (our loved one) is tired too. Lord, we know that the raging battle within (our loved one) is fierce and (he/she) is beaten down, bruised and bloody. Lord You are the One that can reach in and rescue (him/her). Lord I pray that you would refresh (our loved one) today. Lord give (him/her) a renewed energy to fight the battle (he/she) is in. Lord (he/she) is faint....we ask that you satisfy (him/her) in a way that only You can. Lord we surrender to you. We surrender (our loved one) to you. Lord, I am weak today. I am weary. I am tired. I sit at your feet and ask for more. I need more of you Lord. More confidence that you will give me everything I need today to be strong. Lord, we believe that it is You who gives strength to the weak and power to the powerless. When They Call You Answer

He asks, "Do you trust me?"

I say "Of course Lord, I trust you."

He says, "Do you really really trust me?"

He says, "Then surrender. Let me handle this. I am fighting this battle for you in ways you can't even imagine!"

I say, "Yes Lord" as I wave my white flag!

And then... He turns to my loved one and says:

“Call to me and I'll answer....

I'll be by your side in bad times...

I'll rescue you....”

Words that I hold on to tightly. Words that I pray. Words of comfort and hope.

July 26, 2022 Our Prayer for our Loved One today:

Psalm 91:1-16 MSG
[1-13] God , you're my refuge. I trust in you and I'm safe!" That's right---he rescues you from hidden traps, shields you from deadly hazards. His huge outstretched arms protect you--- under them you're perfectly safe; his arms fend off all harm....Yes, because God 's your refuge, ...Evil can't get close to you, harm can't get through the door. He ordered his angels to guard you wherever you go. If you stumble, they'll catch you; their job is to keep you from falling. [14-16] "If you'll hold on to me for dear life," says God , "I'll get you out of any trouble. I'll give you the best of care if you'll only get to know and trust me. Call me and I'll answer, be at your side in bad times; I'll rescue you...I'll give you a long life, give you a long drink of salvation!"

Abba Father...We come before you on behalf of our children, our families... because you are our refuge and our hope in times of trouble. Lord, we ask today that (our loved one) would trust in you and (he/she) would be safe! Lord, rescue (our loved one) from hidden traps, shield (him/her) from all the deadly hazards in (his/her) life! With your HUGE outstretched arms we pray protection over (our loved one) that under You (he/she) would be perfectly safe and that Your arms would fend off all harm. YES God! Because You are a refuge we pray that no evil would even be able to come close to (our loved one) and that NO harm would be able to get through the door of your protection. Lord, we ask that you would order your angels to guard over (our loved one) wherever (he/she) goes. Lord, if (our loved one) stumbles, we ask that You angels will catch (him/her) and keep (him/her) from falling. Lord, we believe that if (our loved one) will hold on to YOU for dear life You will help (him/her) out of (his/her) troubles! Lord, we believe that you will care for (him/her) if the only trust in You! Lord, we pray that (our loved one) will call on you and you will answer (him/her) and you will be by (his/her) side through ALL of the bad times. He Will Heal You

Hosea, the story of unconditional love. Of redemption. Of how even after this woman prostitutes herself and keeps going back to her old life, Hosea still loves her.

And it is in the Bible to show us about God's relationship with us. No matter what we've done, no matter how deep we are in the pit, no matter how lost we are...

God can find us, God can pull us out, God can transform us.

Because He loves us.

That is hope. And that is the promise that I cling to every day.

And as God continues to show us His unconditional love, by example we learn how to love others.

Today I pray that I will love my tribe the way God loves me.

July 24, 2022 Our prayer for Our Loved One today:

Abba Father...we cry out to you today knowing that your heart breaks just as ours does. We pray on behalf of (our loved one) this morning. Lord, we pray today that you will heal (our loved one) of (his/her) unfaithfulness today because your love knows no bounds for (him/her) and we rejoice that your anger will be gone forever! Lord we believe today that You will be to (our loved one) like a refreshing dew from heaven, and that (our loved one) will blossom like the lily, (he/she) will send (his/her) roots deep into the soil like the cedars of Lebanon. Lord, I trust that one day (our loved one) will once again live under the protection of Your shade and (he/she) will flourish like grain and blossom like the grapevines. Zechariah 4:10 Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin.

Lord, thank you that you are in every detail of our lives. That you are the God of big miracles but you are also the God of small steps of progress that lead to great changes. Lord, today we pray that (our loved one) would start. That (he/she) would take that small beginning, that first movement towards Him. We thank You that you see (our loved one) and that you rejoice over the work that is beginning in (his/her) life. And Lord, we pray that even though we don’t see it yet, that we also would rejoice over the good work that we trust you have begun in (our loved one’s) heart. Set Free

A former dealer and felon.....now a youth counselor.

A former prostitute....now helps people get into treatment.

A former adulterer...now ministers to the homeless.

A person formally deep in the throes of addiction....now a pastor.

These are the stories of u-turns. The stories of deliverance. These are the stories of real people, after 10, 20 or more years of oppression, being set free.

These are the stories I cling to each day.

Because these are the stories of hope.

July 22, 2022 Our prayer for our loved one today:

2 Corinthians 6:2 Voice
[2] For God says through Isaiah, When the time was right, I listened to you; and that day you were delivered, I was your help. Look, now the time is right! See, your day of deliverance is here!

Father God, we know that your heart breaks when any of your children fall away from you. Lord, we believe that before today you set things in motion for (our loved one), that you already know the appointed time for everything. Lord, we ask that today Your compassion would be upon (our loved one) and that (he/she) would cry out to You. We pray that TODAY would be the day of deliverance for (our loved one) and that You would listen to (him/her) cry for help and set (him/her) free! Lord, we believe Your word is truth. We know that you have a plan and purpose for (our loved one’s) life. He Loves You

I remember trying...

Trying so hard to love my prodigal.

Striving in my own strength to manufacture the love that I needed to muster up to do life with him.

I failed.

Almost daily I failed.

The more I failed the more I realized just how exorbitant God’s love was for me. In spite of myself, he loved me beyond my wildest imagination.

When I grasped that, I was able to love my prodigal out of the overflow of all the love He has for me.

If you can grasp this one thing today....

Know how very much he loves you. And you will be able to love out of that abundance.

And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, [18] may have power, together with all the Lord's holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, [19] and to know this love that surpasses knowledge---that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

Lord, we kneel before you today Father, at times distant, at times skeptical, mostly desperate. Lord, we long to feel your presence Lord and even more we long for (our loved one) to feel you near to (him/her). Lord, we pray today that out of Your glorious riches, you would strengthen (our loved one) in (his/her) inner being, with the power of your Spirit, so that Christ would dwell in (his/her) heart through faith. Lord, I pray that (our loved one) through Your power would grasp today, in this moment, just how wide, how long, how high and how deep Your exorbitant love is for (him/her). Lord, I pray that (he/she) would know, deep in (his/her) spirit, that it's this love and this power that will get (him/her) through this day. Lord, we ask today that you would fill (our loved one) with the FULL measure of You! Lord, we believe through this love (our loved one) can conquer anything. Filled to Overflowing with Power

One moment...

One moment in his suffering he walked in the doors of the healing room for prayer.

And God met him there.

In this young man’s deepest pain, the God of hope filled him with all joy and peace... He filled him with hope and set him free.

My friends... in your own suffering, as you put your hope in Him, I pray that you too, would be filled to overflowing with power, with joy and with His perfect peace.

And I pray that our own loved ones would have a similar encounter. One that will bring them peace.

Romans 15:13 NIV [13] May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Abba Daddy, we thank you because you are a good, good daddy. Everything good and perfect comes from You. And we thank you that we don't have to walk this difficult journey alone. Lord, today we pray that You, the God of hope would fill (our loved one) with hope. Fill (him/her) with the joy and peace that can only come when (he/she) trusts in You. Lord, we pray that the power of the Holy Spirit would touch (our loved one) so that (he/she) would overflow with HOPE today. Touch (our loved one) Lord. Draw us all to you today. God's Love for You is Profound

Right now…

There’s a lot of fear going around.

Fear of loss of income

Fear of isolation

Fear of relapse

Fear of death.

There’s a lot of fear going around.

But God.

But God’s love.

His LOVE....His love for us is what can dispel every one of our fears. The love that placed him on the cross. The love that died for us. That love is ours. All we have to do is recognize it and step into that precious love.

May you know and understand and experience God's love for you in a profound and real way today. And I pray that our loved ones experience that as well.

1 John 4:16,18 NIV [16] And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them[18] There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear...

Abba Daddy thank you! Thank you for being the God of love. Lord we know and rely on this truth. That you are love. Today, we come before your thrown and ask that [our loved one] would begin to know and rely on this truth as well. That You love [our loved one]. Lord, I pray that [our loved one] would chose to live in Your love and that You would come and live in [him/her], because THERE IS NO FEAR IN LOVE! Lord, whatever it is that is holding [our loved one] back, whatever it is that they fear, let YOUR LOVE drive that fear out of [him/her] today! More than anything else we pray that [our loved one] would experience this truth in a real and tangible way. There is nothing to fear when [he/she] is walking in Your precious and perfect love. My friends, our thoughts are so powerful.

When we look for the best, not the worst, the things to praise, not the things to complain about, the beautiful, not the ugly, our lives change.

And today I want to challenge you to not only practice that with your circumstances but also with your loved one.

Look for the beautiful and pray that beautiful into their very lives.

July 18, 2022 Our Prayer for Our Loved One today

Philippians 4:8-9 MSG [8-9] Summing it all up, friends, I'd say you'll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious---the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.

Heavenly Father, we thank you today that you are always good, that you are the giver of all things wonderful. I confess that I often take my eyes off of that truth, that I don’t always see the good in my life or my loved one. Lord, today I ask that I would purpose to fix my eyes on the beautiful and look for the miracles in this day, in this moment. I pray that you would give me those eyes to see the beauty in [our loved one] as well. I praise you for [our loved one] and thank you for [his/her] value, regardless of [his/her] circumstances. Lord, I thank you that you are at work in [his/her] life and that when I see broken or “too far gone” You are just getting started. I trust and believe that You see [our loved one] perfect and worthy of praise. I ask that you move in my life and in [our loved one’s] life to create excellent harmonies today. Give Thanks

It is so important for us to not loose sight of the things we have to be grateful for. Gratitude changes a heart. When I am struggling to see the good in my loved one, see good in my circumstances or see good in the world, I can pause and set my thoughts on the many things I am thankful for.

When we have gratitude in our heart it is impossible to be bitter or angry or selfish or rude.

It will instantly fill me with love for the people in my life that are sometimes hard to love.

So today's prayer is a prayer of gratitude, asking for nothing, but thanking Him for all the good we have in our lives.

July 17, 2022 Our prayer for our loved one today:

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV [16] Rejoice always, [17] pray continually, [18] give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Lord, today is a difficult day for many of us. For most, there is an empty seat at our tables and in our hearts. We know of no other way to get through the difficulties then to press in to you and give thanks. Today we rejoice, rejoice in the loved one you gave us and in [his/her] precious life. Lord, we give thanks. We give thanks for choosing us to be [our loved one's] family. And Lord, we will pray continually until [our loved one] is home and fully alive in Christ Jesus our Lord. We thank you Lord that we have a God we can come to who hears our prayers and who gives us the power and strength to walk through this day. We pray today in your Son's precious name. Amen

I WIll Heal My People

For so many years, in the middle of all of the pain, it was difficult to picture an outcome that included my loved one being healed.

When our home was in upheaval, It was hard to imagine our home with peace and security.

But that is God’s desire for us and for our loved ones.

His promise is to bring healing into our lives.

And I will tell you that while we pray this over our loved ones He can give that to us LONG before our loved ones ever choose to change their lives. YOU are “His people.” You are the one today that he wants to bring health and healing to.

And one day, in His absolute perfect timing He will bring it to your loved one as well...

And you will be ready.

July 16, 2022 Our prayer for our loved one today:

Jeremiah 33:6 NIV [6] “ 'Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing.... I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security.

Oh Lord, we love you. And we trust you. Even when it hurts so bad, and it's so hard to believe, we trust the promises in your word. Lord, your word says YOU are our Jehovah Rapha, our great healer. And today we pray that healing over (our loved one). We believe that you alone have the power to make us whole. That you will heal (our loved one) and that you will allow (our loved one) to enjoy abundant peace and abundant security. We claim peace over (our loved one), we claim safety over (our loved one) and we claim LIFE over (our loved one). Lord, we thank you that according to your word it's already been done. Today fill us with that same peace and security to trust and not doubt as we surrender (our loved one) and give (him/her) to you today. We pray this in Jesus precious name. Amen!

His Love Will Lead Them Home

Redeem: To buy back, to claim. We have been claimed, my friend. We all have been claimed. We were bought for the price of a life. Every last one of us. The greatest gift of love ever given.

And our love and compassion towards our loved one will keep us connected to them...

His love and strength will guide them home...

Our Legacy is Life

Not mental illness

Not pride

Not accusations

No weapon...

No weapon can prevail!

That is not our heritage.

We refute any lie against [our loved one] and denounce any accusation against [him/her]. We accept the heritage that you have given us and [our loved one]. He hears our cries sweet friends. He listens to our pleas, even from the depths of the pit.

And He is whispering in your ear today....

"Do not fear. I will redeem your life. I will redeem your loved one's life."

No one is too lost to be saved.

That is the hope we walk in today.

July 13, 2022 Our Prayer for our Loved One today:

Lamentations 3:55-58 NIV [55] I called on your name, Lord, from the depths of the pit. [56] You heard my plea: “Do not close your ears to my cry for relief.” [57] You came near when I called you, and you said, “Do not fear.” [58] You, Lord, took up my case; you redeemed my life.

Father God, you are our defender Lord. You guard us and protect us. Today (our loved one) is in the pit. Lord, we pray that (he/she) will call on Your name from the depths of the deep, that dark hole they are encased in. Lord, hear our plea for relief, hear (our loved one's) plea for relief...for (his/her) cry for help! Lord, we know that you come near to us when we call to you! Lord, draw near to (our loved one). Whisper in (his/her) ear..."Do not fear." Lord, we ask that you take up (our loved one's) case and that today You redeem (our loved one's) life, as only you can do. Lord, we pray this prayer in your Son's precious name. Amen

Heart of Flesh

Friends, God is in the business of performing open heart surgery.

He can take the person you don’t even recognize anymore...

He can take that old, stony heart...

He can take that spirit of oppression...

Remove it in an instant...

And remake us into something completely new.

Walk in that confidence today.

July 12, 2022 Our prayer for our loved one today:

Ezekiel 36:26-28 NIV [26] I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. [27] And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. [28]...you will be my people, and I will be your God.

Lord, we come before you this morning knowing that you are the great physician. Lord, you took our pain and our infirmities and nailed them on the cross with you. Lord, I pray today that you will perform "open heart surgery" on (our loved one). Lord, we pray today that you will give (our loved one) a new heart and put a new spirit in (him/her). Lord we ask that you would remove (our loved one's) heart of stone and give (him/her) a heart of flesh. Lord, we ask that you put a new spirit in (our loved one) and move (our loved one) to follow your decrees and desire to keep you laws. Lord, we look forward to the day when (our loved one) comes back to you and (he/she) will be your people again and you will be (his/her) God! We are confident in your perfect plan for (his/her) life. We ask this in your Son's precious name! Amen!

Never Thirst Again

Our souls were created with a longing to be filled. God created us to be filled with Him.

We look to the things that he created to fill our spirits rather than to the creator himself. Especially when we feel lost or alone or broken, we look to our friends (who often fail us), we look to our spouses (who can disappoint us), we look to money (and we always come up short), we look to our corporate success (and that completely stresses us out). We may even look to drugs or alcohol ourselves (I need that cigarette or I deserve that glass of wine.)

But the only thing that is truly going to fill our empty souls and the only thing that is going to truly fill our loved ones empty souls, is if we drink the living water, the source of life itself, that comes from God above.

Praying today that you would drink from the refreshing well of his love and his peace. And praying that our loved ones would do the same.

July 11, 2022 Our prayer for our loved one today:

John 4:10-11,13-14 NIV [10] Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” [11] Where can you get this living water? [13] Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, [14] but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

Good morning Father God. The words of Jesus bring hope to us this morning. You have a gift you want to give (our loved one) today. Lord, we know that if (our loved one) ask you, you will give (him/her) living water. We believe that there is only one place to get this living water. (Our loved one) can drink the water of this world and (he/she) will always be thirsty for more. But Lord, your word says that if (our loved one) drinks the water YOU give (him/her) (he/she) will never thirst again. We pray today that (our loved one) would drink the water that You give (him/her) and that it will become in (him/her) a spring of water welling up to a life of freedom! We confidently call this in to being today! In Jesus Name. Amen!
