You are my Refuge

He asks, "Do you trust me?"

I say "Of course Lord, I trust you."

He says, "Do you really really trust me?"

He says, "Then surrender.  Let me handle this.  I am fighting this battle for you in ways you can't even imagine!"

I say, "Yes Lord" as I wave my white flag!

And then... He turns to my loved one and says:

“Call to me and I'll answer....

I'll be by your side in bad times...

I'll rescue you....”

Words that I hold on to tightly.  Words that I pray.  Words of comfort and hope.

March 8, 2019 Our Prayer for our Loved One today:

Psalm 91:1-16 MSG [1-13]  God , you're my refuge. I trust in you and I'm safe!" That's right---he rescues you from hidden traps, shields you from deadly hazards. His huge outstretched arms protect you--- under them you're perfectly safe; his arms fend off all harm....Yes, because God 's your refuge, ...Evil can't get close to you, harm can't get through the door. He ordered his angels to guard you wherever you go. If you stumble, they'll catch you; their job is to keep you from falling. [14-16] "If you'll hold on to me for dear life," says God , "I'll get you out of any trouble. I'll give you the best of care if you'll only get to know and trust me.  Call me and I'll answer, be at your side in bad times; I'll rescue you...I'll give you a long life, give you a long drink of salvation!"

Abba Father...We come before you on behalf of our children, our families... because you are our refuge and our hope in times of trouble.  Lord, we ask today that (our loved one) would trust in you and (he/she) would be safe!  Lord, rescue (our loved one) from hidden traps, shield (him/her) from all the deadly hazards in (his/her) life!  With your HUGE outstretched arms we pray protection over (our loved one) that under You (he/she) would be perfectly safe and that Your arms would fend off all harm.  YES God!  Because You are a refuge we pray that no evil would even be able to come close to (our loved one) and that NO harm would be able to get through the door of your protection.  Lord, we ask that you would order your angels to guard over (our loved one) wherever (he/she) goes.  Lord, if (our loved one) stumbles, we ask that You angels will catch (him/her) and keep (him/her) from falling.  Lord, we believe that if (our loved one) will hold on to YOU for dear life You will help (him/her) out of (his/her) troubles!  Lord, we believe that you will care for (him/her) if the only trust in You!   Lord, we pray that (our loved one) will call on you and you will answer (him/her) and you will be by (his/her) side through ALL of the bad times.  Lord, we ask that you would rescue (our loved one) today and that you will give (our loved one) a long life and the long drink of salvation.  Lord, we believe these words today!  In Jesus name we pray!  Amen

Living Water, Endless Life

Our souls were created with a longing to be filled.  God created us to be filled with Him.  

We look to the things that he created to fill our spirits rather than to the creator himself.  Especially when we feel lost or alone or broken, we look to our friends (who often fail us), we look to our spouses (who can disappoint us), we look to money (and we always come up short), we look to our corporate success (and that completely stresses us out).   We may even look to drugs or alcohol ourselves (I need that cigarette or I deserve that glass of wine.)

But the only thing that is truly going to fill our empty souls and the only thing that is going to truly fill our loved ones empty souls, is if we drink the living water, the source of life itself, that comes from God above.

Praying today that you would drink from the refreshing well of his love and his peace.  And praying that our loved ones would do the same.

March 7, 2019  Our prayer for our loved one today:

John 4:10-11,13-14 NIV [10] Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” [11] Where can you get this living water? [13] Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, [14] but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

Good morning Father God.  The words of Jesus bring hope to us this morning.  You have a gift you want to give (our loved one) today.  Lord, we know that if (our loved one) ask you, you will give (him/her) living water.   We believe that there is only one place to get this living water.  (Our loved one) can drink the water of this world and (he/she) will always be thirsty for more.  But Lord, your word says that if (our loved one)drinks the water YOU give (him/her)  (he/she) will never thirst again.  We pray today that (our loved one) would drink the water that You give (him/her) and that it will become in (him/her) a spring of water welling up to a life of freedom!  We confidently call this in to being today!  In Jesus Name.  Amen!

His Love will lead Them Home

Redeem: To buy back, to claim.  We have been claimed, my friend.  We all have been claimed.  We were bought for the price of a life.  Every last one of us.  The greatest gift of love ever given.

And our love and compassion towards our loved one will keep us connected to them...

His love and  strength will guide them home...

March 6, 2019 Our prayer for our loved one today:

Exodus 15:13 NIV [13] In your unfailing love you will lead the people you have redeemed. In your strength you will guide them to your holy dwelling.

Oh Lord, you love reaches to the heavens.  It rains down on us to overflowing.  Lord, today, in that unfailing love we pray that you will take (our loved one) by the hand lead (our loved one), who you have redeemed.  In Your strength, in the way that only You can, guide (our loved one) to you and guide them home.   Lord, we know that Your desire is for each one of us to rest in You.  Lord, we pray that you would draw us all near to you today and hold us in your mighty hand.  In Jesus precious name.  Amen

Be Strong & Courageous

Discouragement…

Fear…

Abandonment…

Physical weakness…

Emotional weakness…

Trauma…

These are the things that we face day after day when we love someone who is suffering.

And it’s easy to absorb ourselves in our own pain.

Yet they are in pain as well.

These are the same things that our loved ones face every single day.

That is not your destiny my friends.  And it is not theirs.  Praying strength and courage today for all of us.

March 5, 2019 Our prayer for our Loved One today:

Joshua 1:9 NIV [9] Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Almighty God, we thank you today that while we might feel abandoned by our family, friends and neighbors, you have not abandoned us.  You promise to be with us wherever we go.  Lord, thank you that you are our strength and courage.  Today I pray that you will walk with (our loved one).  That you will pursue (him/her).  Lord when (our loved one) feels weak, I ask that you fill (him/her) with strength.  When (he/she) is fearful,  remind (our loved one) that (he/she) is courageous.  Lord, change (our loved one’s) discouragement into hope today.  Hope for healing.  Hope for freedom.  Hope for a new life in you.  Lord, we thank you that you will not stop chasing after (him/her) until (he/she) belongs to you.  We pray these things in your son’s precious name.  Amen

You Belong to the Day

Recently while serving our homeless ministry, everyone had this sense.  The send that we were in a battle field.  The sense that there was a war going on in the heavenly realm.

And there is.

There are always battles going on between good and evil.

God’s word assures us that we do NOT belong to the darkness, we do not belong to the enemy, we do not belong to the night.

We belong to the day.  You and I, we belong to the day.
If you are walking in the dark today, that is not God plans today.  

The night is gone.  Clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord today.

March 4, 2019  Our prayer for Our Loved One today.


Romans 13:12-14 NLT [12] The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armor of right living. [13] Because we belong to the day…[14] ….clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Oh Father, we come before You today with anticipation and excitement over the work that You are doing in (our loved one’s) life! We believe that the night, the dark times are nearly over for (our loved one)  and that the day (he/she) says Yes!to you, Lord is almost here!  We believe with confidence that very soon and in Your perfect timing (our loved one) will put aside (his/her) deeds of darkness, all that is holding (him/her) back in life, and put on the armor of right living!  Lord, we pray that (our loved one) would understand that (he/she) belongs to YOU, to the light, to the day and we eagerly anticipate the day when (he/she) comes before your presence to live for you!   We CONFIDENTLY claim these promises today in Jesus Powerful name!  Amen!

Now is the Time

A former dealer and felon.....now an LADC counselor.

A former prostitute....now helps people get into treatment.

A former adulterer...now ministers to the homeless.

A former alcoholic....now runs a company.

A former addict....now a pastor.

These are the stories of u-turns.  The stories of deliverance.  These are the stories of real people, after 10, 20 or more years of oppression, being set free.

These are the stories I cling to each day.

Because these are the stories of hope.

March 3, 2019  Our prayer for our loved one today:

2 Corinthians 6:2 Voice [2] For God says through Isaiah, When the time was right, I listened to you; and that day you were delivered, I was your help. Look, now the time is right! See, your day of deliverance is here!

Father God, we know that your heart breaks when any of your children fall away from you.  Lord, we believe that before today you set things in motion for (our loved one), that you already know the appointed time for everything.   Lord, we ask that today Your compassion would be upon (our loved one) and that (he/she) would cry out to You.  We pray that TODAY would be the day of deliverance for (our loved one) and that You would listen to (him/her) cry for help and set (him/her) free!   Lord, we believe Your word is truth.  We know that you have a plan and purpose for (our loved one’s) life.  We have faith that Your favor would come upon (our loved one) and that this would be the day (he/she) will move from death to life.  In your son’s precious name we pray.  Amen.

Unconditional Love

Recently, I was asked the question “How many chances we give our loved ones when they keep going back to their old life.  How many times to we rescue them?  How many times do we save them?”

I don't have the answer to that and I don't think the answer is the same for any 2 people, because it has to be spirit led.

But I do know that God gave us the whole book of Hosea as an example both of his love for us and how we should love others.  Gomor (the woman in the story) kept prostituting herself.  Hosea would whisk her out of that life and she would keep going back to her addiction to her idol.   Sound familiar?  But Hosea kept rescuing her and one day she figured out how very much she was loved.

Our loved ones do that, but we do that too?  Maybe the idol in our life is actually our loved one (or trying to rescue them) and God wants us to come back to Him?    Or maybe we are supposed to gleam out of this story that no matter how bad anyone's been, no matter what they've done, God loves them and we are to love them as well!  

Either way, it's a really powerful story of unconditional love.  It's why I love these verses so very much!

LOVE NEVER FAILS!!!

March 2, 2019 Our Prayer for our Loved One today:

Hosea 14:4-5,7-9 NLT

[4] The Lord says, “I will heal you….”  My love will know no bounds… [5] I will be to Israel like a refreshing dew from heaven. Israel will blossom like the lily;  [7] My people will again live under my shade. They will flourish like grain and blossom like grapevines. 8] ...I am the one who answers your prayers and cares for you.  [9] Let those who are wise understand these things.  The paths of the Lord are true and right, and righteous people live by walking in them. 

Thank you Lord that you are a God who never gives up on us.  Lord, your love never fails.  Lord we thank you too, that your love for (our loved one) is constant.  Lord, we thank you today that because your love knows no bounds.  We believe that you desire to heal (our loved one).  Lord, thank you that you will be like a refreshing dew from heaven for (our loved one) and that (he/she) will blossom like a lily.  Thank you for the promise that (our loved one) will soon live again under your shade and that (he/she) would flourish like grain and blossom like grapevines.   Lord, thank you that you are the one who answers all of our prayers and cares for us and (our loved one)!  Lord we agree that your paths are true and right.  We pray that (our loved one) would chose to walk on that path and chose life today!  We pray this in your son's precious name!  Amen!

He Loves You

I remember trying...

Trying so hard to love my prodigal.

Striving in my own strength to manufacture the love that I needed to muster up to do life with him.

I failed.

Almost daily I failed.

The more I failed the more I realized just how exorbitant God’s love was for me.  In spite of myself, he loved me beyond my wildest imagination.

When I grasped that, I was able to love my prodigal out of the overflow of all the love He has for me.

If you can grasp this one thing today....

Know how very much he loves you.  And you will be able to love out of that abundance.

March 1, 2019 Our prayer for our loved one today:

Ephesians 3:14-19 NIV [14] For this reason I kneel before the Father, [15] from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. [16] I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, [17] so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, [18] may have power, together with all the Lord's holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, [19] and to know this love that surpasses knowledge---that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

Lord, we kneel before you today Father, at times distant, at times skeptical, mostly desperate.  Lord, we long to feel your presence Lord and even more we long for (our loved one) to feel you near to (him/her).  Lord, we pray today that out of Your glorious riches, you would strengthen (our loved one) in (his/her)  inner being, with the power of your Spirit, so that Christ would dwell in (his/her) heart through faith.   Lord, I pray that (our loved one) through Your power would grasp today, in this moment, just how wide, how long, how high and how deep Your exorbitant love is for (him/her).  Lord, I pray that (he/she) would know, deep in (his/her)  spirit, that it's this love and this power that will get (him/her) through this day.   Lord, we ask today that you would fill (our loved one) with the FULL measure of You!  Lord, we believe through this love (our loved one) can conquer anything.  Lord, we thank You in advance for what you are about to do in (our loved one's) life and wait in confidence today.  In your son's precious name we pray!  Ame

Perfect Love Casts Out Fear

The fear of rejection...

The fear of not measuring up...

The fear of abandonment....

Your fear [whatever that is]...

And these fears drive us to use things or do things that are often outside of God’s will.  Whether it’s calming our fears with drugs or alcohol, or justifying our constant control and over-attachment because of our fears.

But His LOVE....His love for us is what can dispel every one of our fears.  The love that placed him on the cross.  The love that died for us.  That love is ours.  All we have to do is recognize it and step into that precious love.

May you know and understand and experience God's love for you in a profound and real way today.  And I pray that our loved ones experience that as well.

February 28, 2019 Our prayer for our loved one today:

1 John 4:16,18 NIV

[16] And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them[18] There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear...

Abba Daddy thank you!  Thank you for being the God of love.  Lord we know and rely on this truth.  That you are love.  Today, we come before your thrown and ask that [our loved one] would begin to know and rely on this truth as well.  That You love [our loved one]. Lord, I pray that [our loved one] would chose to live in Your love and that You would come and live in [him/her], because THERE IS NO FEAR IN LOVE!  Lord, whatever it is that is holding [our loved one] back, whatever it is that they fear, let YOUR LOVE drive that fear out of [him/her] today!  More than anything else we pray that [our loved one] would experience this truth in a real and tangible way. There is nothing to fear when [he/she] is walking in Your precious and perfect love.  We pray that that love would rain down on [him/her].  We pray this in your son's holy and precious name.  Amen

May you Overflow with Hope

One night...

One night, in his suffering he walked in the doors of the healing room for prayer.

And God met him there.

In this young man’s deepest pain, the God of hope filled him with all joy and peace...

He filled him with hope and set him free.

My friends... in your own suffering, as you put your hope in Him, I pray that you too, would be filled to overflowing with power, with joy and with His perfect peace. And I pray that our own loved ones would have a similar encounter. One that will bring them peace.

February 27, 2019 Our prayer for our loved one today

Romans 15:13 NIV

[13] May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Abba Daddy, we thank you because you are a good, good daddy. Everything good and perfect comes from You. And we thank you that we don't have to walk this difficult journey alone. Lord, today we pray that You, the God of hope would fill (our loved one) with hope. Fill (him/her) with the joy and peace that can only come when (he/she) trusts in You. Lord, we pray that the power of the Holy Spirit would touch (our loved one) so that (he/she) would overflow with HOPE today. Touch (our loved one) Lord. Draw us all to you today. Wrap us up in your love. In Jesus precious name we pray. Amen.

In Your Care

Surrender...

It's a daily thing….

Sometimes a moment by moment thing…

And these verses remind us that we can fully trust the One who keeps us safe, who shelters us from danger.  

Lord...I place myself in your care.

Lord...I place my loved one in your care.

February 26, 2019  Our prayer for our loved one today:

Psalm 31:3-5 (GNV)  You are my refuge and defense; guide me and lead me as you have promised.  Keep me safe from the trap that has been set for me;  shelter me from danger. I place myself in your care.  You will save me, Lord; you are a faithful God.

Father God, we come to you today knowing that you are a faithful God who is ALWAYS good and always desires the best for each of us.  Lord, we praise You because You are doing a work in each of us.  We thank you that You are a refuge and our defense Lord.  We ask today that (our loved one) would whisper Your name and that You would be a refuge and defense for (him/her).  We ask that You guide (our loved one) and lead (him/her) as you have promised Lord.  Keep (our loved one) safe from the traps the enemy has set for (him/her) and shelter (him/her) from danger.  We place (our loved one) in your care today.  Lord we are confident that You will save (him/her) because you ARE a faithful God.  We thank You that you are trustworthy and that we know these things will happen as you ordain them to.  We pray this in your Son's precious name.  Amen.

From Ugly to Beautiful

My friends, our thoughts are so powerful.  

When we look for the best, not the worst, the things to praise, not the things to complain about, the beautiful, not the ugly, our lives change.  

And today I want to challenge you to not only practice that with your circumstances but also with your loved one.  Look for the beautiful and pray that beautiful into their very lives.

February 25, 2019 Our Prayer for Our Loved One today

Philippians 4:8-9 MSG [8-9] Summing it all up, friends, I'd say you'll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious---the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.

Heavenly Father, we thank you today that you are always good, that you are the giver of all things wonderful.  I confess that I often take my eyes off of that truth, that I don’t always see the good in my life or my loved one.  Lord, today I ask that I would purpose to fix my eyes on the beautiful and look for the miracles in this day, in this moment.  I pray that you would give me those eyes to see the beauty in [our loved one] as well.  I praise you for [our loved one] and thank you for [his/her] value, regardless of [his/her] circumstances.  Lord, I thank you that you are at work in [his/her] life and that when I see broken or “too far gone” You are just getting started.  I trust and believe that You see [our loved one] perfect and worthy of praise.  I ask that you move in my life and in [our loved one’s] life to create excellent harmonies today.  I pray this in Your Son’s Holy Name.  Amen

We are not Powerless

One of the statements we often hear is that we must admit that we are powerless over our loved ones choices.  And while that is definitely true...

The truth is that we are not powerless.  

These verses say is that YOU have the same power in you as Jesus did when he was raised from the dead.  Do you understand that?  

That power can give you strength, peace, joy, love and my favorite....FREEDOM.  Believe it!  Walk in it.  You are POWERFUL!!!   You can do ALL things through Christ who gives you strength and lives in you!

And this same power is available to our loved ones.  It is ours for the asking.  My prayer today is that each of us would recognize how much power we really do have and simply ask, “Lord I need you.  Fill me with you.”

February 24, 2019  Our prayer for our loved one today:

Romans 8:9-11 MSG [10-11] It stands to reason, doesn't it, that if the alive-and-present God who raised Jesus from the dead moves into your life, he'll do the same thing in you that he did in Jesus, bringing you alive to himself? When God lives and breathes in you (and he does, as surely as he did in Jesus), you are delivered from that dead life. With his Spirit living in you, your body will be as alive as Christ's!

Father God, we thank you that in You there is hope and life.  Lord, it stands to reason...that if You, the alive-and present God who raise your son from the dead moves into (our loved ones) life, that we trust that You will do the same thing for (our loved one) that You did in Jesus...bringing (him/her) alive unto You!!!  God, when you live and breathe into (our loved one) as surely as you did in Jesus,  we believe (he/she) will be delivered from death to life!!  With Your Spirit living in (our addict) (he/she) will be ALIVE as Christ's!  Lord, we wait expectantly for that day to come soon with trust and hope!   We pray this in Jesus Holy Name!  Amen

Rest

You may be in a dark valley today.  In a place where you never expected to be.  And you may be asking why.  You may be feeling completely alone.   You may have fear.  You may have anxiety.  You may be in a place where you can't stop crying (I've been there).

But I want you to know, sweet friends that you are never alone.   

Let Him comfort you today.  Let Him dry your tears.  Take your fears and anxiety and put them on His shoulders.  

Rest in Him my friend....

Rest in Him.

February 23, 2019 Our prayer for our loved one today:

Psalm 23:1-6 NIV [1] The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. [2] He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, [3] he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. [4] Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. [5] You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. [6] Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Thank you Lord that you are (our loved one’s) shepherd and in You (he/she) will have everything (he/she) needs for an abundant life.  Lord, as I pray that (our loved one) will rest in You today I ask that you quiet (our loved one’s) spirit and refresh and restore (our loved one’s) soul.  Lord, I feel today that (our loved one’s) walking through the darkest of valley's, Lord but THANK YOU that you are always with (him/her) and that because of that, I have nothing to fear.  Lord, we ask that your rod would protect (our loved one) today.  Lord with your staff, draw me and (our loved one) near to you.   Lord comfort (our loved one) as only you can.  You provide for (him/her) a table, a feast even before (his/her) enemies, to the point where (his/her) cup will overflow with abundance!  Lord, thank you that your goodness and your mercies will follow (our loved one) all of the days of (our loved one’s) life and for the amazing promise that I will dwell with you in your house forever, eternally.  Lord, I thank you and praise you for all of these things today.  In Jesus Name!  Amen.

He did it for Us

That day.

The darkest day in history. The day He took all of the ugly in this world and placed it on His shoulders.

He died for you and me. AND he died for the addicted, the prostitute, the adulterer, the hater, the dealer, the rebellious lost cause. He did it for all of us.

He did it so that we could be set free...

He did it so we could be healed...

He did it so we could have peace....

He did it to bring abundant life.

He did it so that we could come to him and receive all of those things and more.

February 22, 2019 Our prayer for our loved one today:

Isaiah 53:4-5 NIV [4] Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted[5] But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.

Lord God, we come to your throne today broke, in pain and suffering. Lord, we know that you were stricken and afflicted to bring us redemption, healing and freedom. Lord, we know this is available not just for us but for [our loved one] as well. Lord You were pierced for every one of [our loved one's] transgressions, you were crushed for [our loved one's] iniquities; the punishment that you bore, that was on you is what will bring [our loved one's] peace. Lord, by Your woulds [our loved one] will be completely healed and restored. Lord we believe this is your perfect plan for all of us. We pray that your plan will be fulfilled on this day Lord. We pray this in Your Son's precious name! Amen!

John 4:10-11,13-14 NIV [10] Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” [11] Where can you get this living water? [13] Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, [14] but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

Good morning Father God.  The words of Jesus bring hope to us this morning.  Lord, You have a gift you want to give (our loved one) today.  Lord we know that if (our loved one) ask you, you will give (him/her) living water.   Lord, we know that there is only one place to get this living water.  (Our loved one) can drink the water of this world and (he/she) will always be thirsty for more.  But Lord, your word says that if (our loved one) drinks the water YOU give (him/her)  (he/she) will never thirst again.  Lord I pray today that (our loved one) would drink the water that You give (him/her) and that it will become in (him/her) a spring of water welling up to a life of freedom!  We confidently cry out to you today!  In Jesus Name.  Amen!

Give Thanks

It is so important for us to not loose sight of the things we have to be grateful for.  Gratitude changes a heart.  When I am struggling to see the good in my loved one,  I can pause and set my thoughts on the many things I am thankful for.   Thank you Lord, that you love them.  Thank you that you created the perfectly and wonderfully.  Thank you for the fact that they are alive.  

When we have gratitude in our heart it is impossible to be bitter or angry or selfish or rude.  It will instantly fill me with love for the people in my life that are sometimes hard to love.

It's part of working our own program of recovery.

So today's prayer is a prayer of gratitude, asking for nothing, but thanking him for all the good we have in our lives.
February 19, 2019  Our prayer for our loved one today:

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV [16] Rejoice always, [17] pray continually, [18] give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Lord, today is a difficult day for many of us.  For most, there is an empty seat at our tables and in our hearts.  We know of no other way to get through the difficulties then to press in to you and give thanks.  Today we rejoice, rejoice in the loved one you gave us and in [his/her] precious life.  Lord, we give thanks.  We give thanks for choosing us to be [our loved one's] family.  And Lord, we will pray continually until [our loved one] is home and fully alive in Christ Jesus our Lord.    We thank you Lord that we have a God we can come to who hears our prayers and who gives us the power and strength to walk through this day.   We pray today in your Son's precious name.  Amen

Disappointment

That is not our heritage.  

Our power is the power to refute every word, thought our action that does not align with the spirit of God.

From anger to calm

From judgement to acceptance

From expectations and disappointment to peace

From fear to courage

From jealousy to contentment

From unforgiveness to love

From anxiety to peace

That is our birthright.  That my friends, can be our legacy.

February 18, 2019  Our prayer for our loved one today:

Isaiah 54:17 NIV [17] no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, 

Spirit of God, we believe that you have established us in righteousness.  We believe that your promises are proven and right.  We speak life and truth over [our loved one] today.  In Christ Jesus we proclaim this promise that no weapon forged against [our loved one] or anyone else in our family will prevail.  We refute any lie against [our loved one] and denounce any accusation against [him/her].  We accept the heritage that you have given us and [our loved one].  We pray that our whole family would walk in the knowledge of the truth of your love, your forgiveness and your abundant life today.  In Jesus Name we pray!  Amen

HIS MERCIES ARE NEW EVERY MORNING

The words from a sweet mama, sitting across from me with tears streaming down her face.  “I feel like such a failure.  It seems when it comes to dealing with my loved one, I do everything wrong.”  I understood her feelings all to well.  My response to her was that we all have.  Walking through the valley of the shadows is dark, difficult and lonely.  There is no guidebook or manual.  And we fail.  

And there is grace.  There is grace because of what He did for us on the cross.

And as we receive His grace, we must pass it on.  We must remember that they need grace too.  The ones you love...they need grace.

And His word says, "Your mercies are new every morning."  We get to start over.  We get to push the reset button.  And there is no limit to how many times we can do that.  Because His mercies are infinite.  

I pray today that we would be easy on ourselves, that we would step into all the grace that He has for us.  And as we receive His grace I pray we would be able to extend it to the ones who need it the most.

February 17, 2019  Our prayer for our loved one today:

Lamentations 3:22-26 NIV [22] Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. [23] They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. [24] I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.” [25] The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; [26] it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.


Lord God, we praise you today because your love for us and your love for (our loved one) is great and vast and wonderful! Lord I believe that you pour your love down on us continually! 

Because of your great love we don't have to be consumed by the difficulties we face.  Lord, we pray that (our loved one) will not be consumed by (his/her) situation.  Lord we pray that (our loved one) would be enveloped by your love and your compassion, because they NEVER fail!  Thank you that your mercies for us and for (our loved one) are new every morning, every minute actually.  Thank you that your faithfulness in (our loved one's) life is great, is massive really!  Abba daddy, you are MY portion. I will wait patiently for you because I trust that you are faithful!  We know that you are always good to those who hope in you.  We wait with that hope for (our loved one's) life to change as (he/she) chooses to seek You.    Lord we wait quietly, expectantly for (our loved one's) salvation, both (his/her) eternal salvation and (his/her) salvation and deliverance from the strongholds in (his/her) life.  We pray this in Jesus Name!  Amen.

Not too Lost

He hears our cries sweet friends.  He listens to our pleas, even from the depths of the pit.  

And He is whispering in your ear today...."Do not fear.  I will redeem your life.   I will redeem your loved one's life."

No one is too lost to be saved.

That is the hope I walk in today.

February 16, 2019 Our Prayer for our Loved One today:

Lamentations 3:55-58 NIV [55] I called on your name, Lord, from the depths of the pit. [56] You heard my plea: “Do not close your ears to my cry for relief.” [57] You came near when I called you, and you said, “Do not fear.” [58] You, Lord, took up my case; you redeemed my life.
Father God, you are our defender Lord.  You guard us and protect us.  Today (our loved one) is in the pit.  Lord, we pray that (he/she) will call on Your name from the depths of the deep, that dark hole they are encased in.  Lord, hear our plea for relief, hear (our loved one's) plea for relief...for (his/her) cry for help!  Lord, we know that you come near to us when we call to you!  Lord, draw near to (our loved one).  Whisper in (his/her) ear..."Do not fear."  Lord, we ask that you take up (our loved one's) case and that today You redeem (our loved one's) life, as only you can do.  Lord, we pray this prayer in your Son's precious name.  Amen
