The Prince of Peace

Over 2000 years ago a baby was born. He was born to give us hope. And 33 years later the Christmas story became the Easter story. He died for us. He died to set us free.

We don’t have to be afraid.

We have GOOD NEWS that should give us GREAT JOY!

He was born to die for us...

So that we may LIVE!

That is the hope Christmas brings.

May you, my friends find hope in this promise today!

December 25, 2018 Our prayer for our loved one today:

Luke 2:10-14 NIV [10] But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. [11] Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. [12] This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” [13] Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, [14] “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

Oh most Glorious God! You bring us good news that brings us great joy for each one of us. Lord thank you that you brought to us a promised savior, the Messiah, the Lord of Lords. Thank you that you came for me and that you came for (our loved one). Thank you that you came to safe (our loved one) from oppression, from strongholds, from self-will, from all that entangles (him/her). You can to set (him/her) free! Lord, we give you glory and honor and praise. We pray perfect peace into (our loved one’s) life today, on whom Your favor rests. We pray perfect peace over our own lives today as we celebrate the promise of new life in You. We pray all of this in your glorious name. Amen!

For Unto Us A Child Is Born

2000 years ago a child was born.

He came to bring us hope.

He came to bring light into the darkness of our lives.

He came to show us the path of peace.

That's what this holiday is about my friends.

No matter what your situation...

No matter your circumstances...

You don't have to sit in the darkness and in the shadow of death.

Let Him wrap you up today in His light and in His perfect peace.

December 24, 2018. Our prayer for our loved on today:

Luke 1:78-79 NLT [78] Because of God's tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, [79] to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide us to the path of peace."

Father God, we thank you today that you are a God of tender mercy. You gave us a sunrise today, the morning light. And Lord we believe that your Holy light is about to break on (our loved one). Lord, shine the light on (him/her). (Our loved one) is sitting in the darkness Lord, in the shadows of death. Lord we pray today that Your light would guide (our loved one) on to the path of peace. The peace that goes beyond understanding. The deep peace that can only come from you. We BELIEVE that your son, the light came for every one of us and we trust that it will shine on (our loved one) in your perfect timing. Thank you for your precious promises! We agree with it and stand on it, in your son's precious name. Amen!

The Gift of Peace

Holidays, weekends, special events….

The empty chair at the table.

The obvious absence of our precious loved one.

The pain is impossible to walk through.

And we can't without leaning on Him.

Remember, as hard as it is for us, it's unbearable for our Loved Ones. The distance. The separation. The alienation.

Yes, they can numb it, but when they wake up day after day in the same oppression, they feel restless and afraid and remorseful and dejected. And they don't know how to get out of that cycle.

Today I pray the giver of peace fills each of us with overflowing peace as we listen for that quite voice that says “I love you.”

"I am leaving you with a gift-peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don't be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27 NLT

December 23, 2018 Our prayer for our Loved One today:

Father God, you are the Prince of Peace. And you came to bring us the perfect peace that can only come from you. Lord, thank you for leaving us that gift. Peace of mind and heart. And I pray today that [our Loved One] would experience that gift in some small way. Through a touch, a smile, a sense that comes onto [him/her]. Lord, I pray that today [he/she] would look for that gift in You and not in anything the world can give [him/her]. And Lord, I pray that you would take any troubles, fear or anxiety and lift it from [our Loved One] today so that [he/she] can be completely filled to overflowing with Your peace!

Wait Patiently

In the middle of the insanity, it's hard to trust...

You feel distant from God....

You are struggling with believing anything good will come from all of this....

And you simply want to do something to make it all better...

When the world tells you to do nothing, God in his wisdom gives us a guide for action. So here is your lists of “do’s” for today:

Trust in Him: He will keep you safe

Delight in Him (I mean radical joy!): He will give you the desires of your heart (He already knows the deep desires).

Commit your way to him (really commit - not just a little bit): You will shine like a star

And the most difficult of all...

Be patient: Watch and see the wild, amazing thing God will do in your life and in your loved one’s life.

Praying today that we can focus on God’s “to do” list for us. He is ready to do miracles!

September 3, 2018 Our Prayer for our loved one today:

Psalm 37:3-6 NIV Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn… Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him.

Lord, thank you that today you are a big God who can be completely trusted. As we trust in you we pray also that (our loved one) will trust in you and begin to do the right things so that (he/she) can live safely in this land. Lord we pray that (our loved one) will take delight in you and you alone. We know that as (he/she) begins to live for you, you will give (him/her) the desires of (his/her) heart. We pray that (our loved one) would commit (his/her) ways to you and that (he/she) would trust in you and walk in your will. We know that (our loved one’s) goodness will shine when that day comes. We pray for that day to come quickly, but Lord, we know that it will come in your perfect timing. We ask for patience and perseverance in the waiting. We lift up all of this in you son's precious name. Amen.

Perfect Peace

As we get closer to the holiday, it seems harder to find peace.

Fear of relapse.

Sadness from loss.

Disappointment from unmet expectations.

Extreme busyness (sometimes to numb the pain).

So today, I claim these verses over my life. I claim these verses over my loved one’s life.

And I pray this over each of you who are struggling today.

As we approach one of the holiest days of the year, may you be filled today with the gift of supernatural strength and peace that only He can give us.

December 21, 2018 Our Prayer for our Loved One today:

Psalm 29:11 NIV

[11] The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.

Abba daddy, we come to You this morning weak, tired and full of anxiety and turmoil because we know that our loved ones are wounded, lost and exhausted. Lord, we know that You are the only source of true healing, true freedom. Father God, we ask today that you would give strength to (our loved one) today, because we know that (our loved one) is Your precious child. We pray that You, in all of your love and mercy, pour out a special blessing of peace over (our loved one) as (he/she) struggles through this day. You are the author and giver of life. Lord, we pray today that (our loved one) would choose life. We believe, in faith, that your promise will come to be and we step in to your perfect peace for us today as well. We pray this in Your son’s precious name. Amen

Grace

The weight you are carrying….

It’s not yours to carry.

The burdens that you are holding on to…

Are not yours to bear.

But grace…

That measureless grace.

That is what is waiting for each of us…

If we are willing to lay it at the foot of the cross.

December 20, 2018 Our prayer for our Loved One today:

Psalm 55:22 TPT [22] So here's what I've learned through it all: Leave all your cares and anxieties at the feet of the Lord, and measureless grace will strengthen you.

Merciful Father, we sit at your feet today bearing the full weight of the burdens we are carrying. The load is heavy. Too heavy for us to manage on our own. Lord, we know that the only way we are going to continue to climb this mountain is if we hand this load off to you. Father, we release all of our cares, all of our anxieties all of our fears, over to you. Lord, we pray this for (our loved one) as well. (He/she) is suffocating under the weight of the strongholds and difficulties in (his/her) life. We pray for a releasing today. We pray that (our loved one) would let go of all that (he/she) is holding so tightly to, the things of this world that are of no use to (him/her). Those things that hold (him/her) back from experiencing the full measure of your glorious grace. Lord, strengthen (him/her). Fill (him/her) with the power that only you can give (our loved one). The God—strength that gives (him/her) the peace to say “Abba Father, I can’t, but you can.” We pray these things in your son’s precious name. Amen

I’ll Take Your Hand

This morning you may feel lost and alone. Like you are walking through unknown territory. Like you are in a dark maze and keep running into walls at every turn.

I know that feeling so well.

But God says "I'll take the hand of those who don't know the way, who can't see where they're going. I'll be their personal guide!"

Our God loves you so much that He will personally guide when you don't know which way to turn. He'll keep you from going off the path and falling into the ditch.

Just reach out and take his hand. Trust Him. We don’t have to know the way, because He will show us the way.

And I'm praying today that one day soon, our loved ones will look up and reach out and take His hand and let Him lead them out of the lies and confusion of their life.

December 19, 2018 Our Prayer For Our Loved One Today

Abba daddy, I need you today. I am walking through unknown territory and I am lost. I am scared. I feel alone. But Lord, I know that with you I am never alone. I know that you are right there to grab my hand when I don't know the way. And Lord, I am confident that when my grip gets weak, you, in your love, hold on tighter. Lord, help me today to trust you. And Lord, I thank you that you are always beside (our loved one). Lord, (our loved one) is in unknown territory and you promise that you will be right there with (him/her). Lord, show (him/her) the road that (he/she) needs to take. Lord, guide (him/her). Protect (him/her) so that (he/she) doesn't fall into the ditch. Lord, I know that you are with (our loved one). Thank you for your promise that you will stick with (our loved one) and that you won't leave (him/her). And Lord, I pray today that you will guide (our loved one) home. I pray this in your son's precious name. Amen

Isaiah 42:16 Msg. But I'll take the hand of those who don't know the way, who can't see where they're going. I'll be a personal guide to them, directing them through unknown country. I'll be right there to show them what roads to take, make sure they don't fall into the ditch. These are the things I'll be doing for them— sticking with them, not leaving them for a minute."

Beauty from Ashes

Sometimes we get so caught up in the trite sayings of "christianease."  Like "all things work for good."  And "Let go and let God."  or "everything happens for a reason."   I abhor those phrases.

Tell the mama who lost her son last night that all things work for good.

Tell the daddy who’s 18 year old daughter is shooting heroin to “let go.”

When we live with a loved one who is on a self-destructive path, we often live in the shadow of death and despair.

To be clear, death and disease and drugs and pain and grief....they were NOT part of God's plan.   He didn't cause them.  He didn't want this for His people.  He wanted us to live a perfect life with Him at the center.

Thankfully healing, freedom, joy and peace ARE part of his plan.

And He promises that while horrible things happen to us in this world He is able to take the ashes of grief and mourning and turn them into the beauty of joy and praise, comfort and hope.

December 18, 2018  Our prayer for our loved one today:

Isaiah 61:1-3 NIV [1] The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, [2] to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and ...to comfort all who mourn, [3] and provide for those who grieve in Zion---to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.

Abba daddy, we humbly come before You ready to receive the Good News that You have for us.  We thank You that Your desire is to bind up the brokenhearted and to FREE (our loved one) and to release each of us from the darkness that exists around us.  Lord, we proclaim Your favor over our life and (our loved one's) life and we receive the gift of Your comfort as we weep for (our loved one).  Lord we accept Your comfort as we grieve.  We rejoice in the coming day when you will bestow on us and on (our loved one) a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning and a garment of praise instead of despair, because that is Your perfect plan for us.  And we exalt the day when (our loved one) will be called an oak of righteousness and (he/she) will stand before You whole and healed in ALL of (his/her) slender and glory.  Lord, we receive today Your healing and Your faithful promises for our lives.  In Jesus precious name we pray.  Amen.

Unfolding Beauty of Grace

The yelling, the shaming, the anger, the chaos. The crazy things I’ve done on this journey in my selfish efforts to change my loved one.

The mistakes along the dusty path.

But there is grace.

My heart’s desire today is that I would become a better version of myself. Walking in love and overflowing with that marvelous grace.

And as I experience the unfolding beauty of all that that He gives me, my hope is that I would reflect that to my loved one.

SO that he would experience the miracle of His marvelous grace.

December 17, 2018 Our prayer for our loved one today:

1 Peter 1:13-15 TPT [13] So then, prepare your hearts and minds for action! Stay alert and fix your hope firmly on the marvelous grace that is coming to you. For when Jesus Christ is unveiled, a greater measure of grace will be released to you[14] As God's obedient children, never again shape your lives by the desires that you followed when you didn't know better[15] Instead, shape your lives to become like the Holy One who called you.

Almighty Father, we come before you today because you are holy and powerful and loving. We believe that your grace is greater than all of our failures and mis-steps. Lord, we pray on behalf of [our loved one] today, that even now you are molding and preparing [our loved one’s] heart and mind for the glorious unfolding in front of [him/her]. Lord, we pray that you would set [our loved one's] mind on the hope that your grace in Jesus Christ brings. We pray that [our loved one] would let go of the desires that come from living [his/her] old life, a life of pain and suffering. We believe that you have called [our loved one] to become like you in every way. We pray these words in the confidence that they will be full-filled swiftly. In Jesus Holy Name we pray! Amen

You Are Not Forgotten

Friends, you may feel forgotten by God today. You may feel like He is not paying attention or that He doesn't care.

He does. And He sees no-one as small or insignificant.

Not one of our whispered cries to Him go unnoticed. And He won't tire, He won't quit, He won't stop until He's finished His work in us and in our precious loved ones.

December 16, 2018 Our prayer for our loved one today:

Isaiah 42:3 Msg. He won't brush aside the bruised and the hurt and he won't disregard the small and insignificant, but he'll steadily and firmly set things right. He won't tire out and quit. He won't be stopped until he's finished his work.

Lord, we thank You that You are always present, that You are always aware and that You are in every detail of our lives. Even though we may feel you may be distant or don't hear our prayers, we trust that you hear every faint whisper. We praise you today, that you won't brush aside [our loved one] who is bruised and hurt right now. We believe with thanksgiving, that even though others may have cast [our loved one] aside as small and insignificant You will never disregard [him/her]. And we thank You that You promise that You won't stop until You have finished [our loved one’s] complete rescue. We trust that You are always at work and that You see [our loved one] and love [him/her] deeply. Lord, we believe these promises today in Your son's precious name. Amen

I Will Live

My question today is this. What are we declaring over our loved one’s life?

Do we live in constant fear of death and meditate on those dark thoughts? Do our actions and words prove our thinking?

Declare the word of the Lord today.

I will live!

My loved one will live!

I choose life!

December 15, 2018 Our prayer for Our Loved One today:

Psalm 118:17 NASB I will not die, but live, And tell of the works of the LORD.

Father God, I admit that I walk in fear most days. Fear of losing that which is most precious to me. Fear of losing my dreams. Fear of not measuring up. Fear of death. Lord, today I call out the truth of your words in my life and in my loved ones life. Lord, I will not allow my circumstances to overcome me. I will not die, I will live. And today I pray for (our loved one). I claim with power and authority life over (him/her). Lord, (our loved one) will not only live but live to tell of your glorious works in (his/her) life. Lord I believe with my whole being that as it is written, so it shall become. I pray this with confidence in your son’s precious name. Amen.

Give Thanks

In the middle of the ugly, the mess, the difficulties, it is hard to see God at work.

But each one of us, every one, whether they are in His will at the moment or not, was created for something incredibly special.

He has begun a good work in you.

He has begun a good work in your loved one.

And He promises that He won’t stop pursuing us until the day we go to our eternal home.

I give thanks today for my loved one and for the work God is certainly doing in his life.

December 14, 2018 Our prayer for our Loved One today:

Philippians 1:3, 4 & 6 NLT [3] Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God. [4] Whenever I pray, I make my requests for all of you with joy, [[6] And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

Lord, we come to you today hurting, wounded, bloody from the battle. But Lord, even when life hurts, we know that You heal. You turn our weeping into dancing and You can turn our heart of pain to a heart filled with joy. So Lord, we choose today to give thanks. We thank You for (our loved one). Every time we think of (our loved one) we will give thanks to You! We know that You created (him/her) perfectly and have a special plan for (his/her) life. We pray to You with joy because we are confident that You, who began a good work in (our loved one) from the moment (he/she) was born, will continue to work in (his/her) life until (he/she) sees You face to face. We place (our loved one) in Your precious hands and trust in Your deliverance. We pray this in Your son's precious name. Amen!

Show Me Your Unfailing Love

Res·cue: the act of saving [someone] from a dangerous or distressing situation.

Have you ever been frustrated because you didn’t get out the door when you were supposed to? I have. And then the thought comes into my head, “I wonder what disaster the Lord saved me from because I was running behind.”

He does that. He saves us from ourselves. And it may look today like your loved one is in an incredibly hopeless situation. But He may just be in the middle of doing the saving.

"By your mighty power you rescue."

Today I am going to choose to believe that He is at work and in the process of rescuing my loved one.

Today I am going to choose to believe that He will protect and cover my loved one in the shadow of His wings.

Today I will walk in hope.

December 13, 2018 Our prayer for our loved one today:

Psalm 17:6-8 NLT [6] I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God. Bend down and listen as I pray[7] Show me your unfailing love in wonderful ways. By your mighty power you rescue those who seek refuge from their enemies[8] Guard me... Hide me in the shadow of your wings.

Lord, we come before You today confident, because we know that you are a God that answers prayers. We pray that today You will bend down and listen as we pray. And I thank you that when [our loved one] cries out to you, you will bend down and listen to [him/her]. Lord, hear [our loved one's] whispers and groans. Show [our loved one] your unfailing love, Lord however that looks. Use the people and events around [him/her] to reveal yourself to [our loved one]. I pray that when [our loved one] does cry out to you that you will swoop in to rescue [him/her] with your mighty hand. Protect [our loved one] from the enemies that are trying to destroy [him/her]. Enemies like confusion, pride, anger, addiction, self-loathing. Lord, whatever [he/she] is facing today, we know that you are greater. Guard [our loved one]. Draw [him/her] near to You and protect [him/her] under the shadow of Your wings. Lord, we pray with confidence that these things will happen as you will them to and ask all of these things in your Son's precious name. Amen.

No Eye Has Seen

You know, the reason I pray scripture prayers and share them is because I believe the Bible is real and true. And that we don't get to pick and choose the parts that we want to believe and those that we don't think apply to us.

So when God says He loves us, it's pretty easy to believe that. We admit that we know that's true.

But when God says He wants to heal us or He wants to restore us or He came to bring life to EVERYONE or He wants us to be strong in the spirit, we tend to think...we'll that works for others (the pastor at church, the person next door, the righteous one) but we we have a hard time believing those truths for our lives. We deeply doubt that those things could happen for us or our family or our loved one.

But I have seen healing. I have seen restoration. I have seen lovely people, people you meet on the street who are living a prosperous, abundant life who will tell you their stories of deliverance and redemption. People who were on the streets for YEARS. People who were homeless and in bondage to drugs and alcohol.

People who were blind and now see...

People who were lost and now are found...

THAT IS WHAT OUR GOD CAN DO!!!

December 12, 2018 Our prayer for our loved one today:

1 Corinthians 2:9 NIV However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”---the things God has prepared for those who love him---

Lord, we come before you this morning with thanksgiving and gratitude for the love that you have for us. We believe that you have a great plan for (our loved one). We wait expectantly for what you have in store for (him/her). Lord, no eye has seen, no ear has heard and no human mind can conceive the things that You have prepared for (our loved one). We pray with confidence that you hold (our loved one’s) future. We wait in hope for what you are about to do. In your son's precious name we pray. Amen!

Sing a New Song

They put on this tough exterior. They seem unbreakable.

Even though our loved ones put on this tough "I don't care about anything" act, they are dying inside and they know it. They live in a cycle of guilt and shame. They tell themselves every time they engage in self-destructive behavior, it will be the last time and when they engage in it again and again they have failed in their minds. Their identity becomes that they are a failure.

And I think they are crying, just crying for help. Silent screams that they think no one hears.

Rescue me! RESCUE ME!!!!

And I KNOW to that we have all cried these words too. We are hoarse from our pleas.

These words....Lord, rescue them today. Don't look the other way. They are hurt and in pain. Come close and get them out of this mess they are in.

But he hears our cries and he will answer. He is always on time and one day… one day our loved ones will sing a new song!

December 11, 2018 Our Prayer for our loved one today:

Psalm 69:1,3,6,13-14,16-18,29-30 MSG [1] God, God, save me! I'm in over my head, [3] I'm hoarse from calling for help, Bleary-eyed from searching the sky for God[6] Don't let those who look to you in hope Be discouraged by what happens to me...[13] And me? I pray. God , it's time for a break! God, answer in love! Answer with your sure salvation! [14] Rescue me...Don't let me go under for good, Pull me out of the clutch of the enemy; This whirlpool is sucking me down[16] Now answer me, God , because you love me; Let me see your great mercy full-face[17] Don't look the other way; ...[18] Come close, God; get me out of here. Rescue me from this deathtrap[29] I'm hurt and in pain; Give me space for healing, and mountain air[30] Let me shout God's name with a praising song, Let me tell his greatness in a prayer of thanks.

Lord, we call out to you today in desperation. We confess that we struggle at times with questions. With unbelief. With a lack of faith. But Lord, we believe that your desire is that not one, NOT ONE of your children should parish. Abba daddy, save [our loved one]. [Our loved one] is in over [his/her] head. We know [he/she] is tired and hoarse from crying out for help, weary from searching for you God. We look to you for our hope, Lord. Encourage us by answering our cries for [our loved one]. It’s time for a break for [our loved one], answer us in love. Answer us with a sure rescue of [our loved one]. We ask that you pull [our loved one] out of the clutch of the enemy. [He/she] is getting sucked down, sucked in. Rescue [him/her] today, because you love [him/her]. Let us see your great mercy full-face today! Come close to us. We are hurt. We are in pain. Lord, give us all space for healing. Even in the pain we shout your name and praise you because of your great love. Lord, we believe today in your power and strength. We pray this prayer in your son’s precious name. Amen

Deep Waters

I think almost every person who has ever struggled with addiction or depression or anxiety or has walked through the dark valley and is on the other side, would read this and say...yes! This was my experience.

He will meet us in our deepest anguish when we cry out to him...

He will rescue us from the deep waters...

And He will bring us to a spacious place, a place of a kind of freedom that we could have never imagined.

He turns our darkness into light.

December 10, 2018 Our prayer for our loved one today:

2 Samuel 22:7,17-18,20,29 NIV [7] “In my distress I called to the Lord; I called out to my God. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came to his ears. [17] “He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters. [18] He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me. [20] He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me. [29] You, Lord, are my lamp; the Lord turns my darkness into light.

Lord, today we call out to you on behalf of (our loved one).  Lord hear our voice, hear our cry for (our loved one).  We pray that you reach down from on high and take ahold of (our loved one); Draw (him/her) out of the deep waters (he/she) is in.  Lord we believe that You have the power to rescue (our loved one) from (his/her)  enemy, from the strongholds  that have overcome (him/her).  Lord, we ask that you bring (our loved one) into a spacious place; Rescue (our loved one) so that (he/she)  may delight in You.  Lord, you are our lamp. We pray on behalf of (our loved one) that You will turn (his/her) darkness into light.  In Jesus name we believe that these things will come to pass.  Amen!

I Will Rescue You

A family wondering where their child is, because they haven’t heard from him in months.

A grandma, raising her grandson, without money for groceries.

A couple, dropping their child off at rehab for the 9th time, hoping this time it works.

A mama, just last night, calling the police on her own child because he pulled a gun on her.

A family learning yesterday that their child is gone forever.

These are the things that some of you are facing today. And you are wondering how you are going to go on, or even if God exists.

He IS there...

And he wrote these words filled with so much HOPE just for you today, just for your loved one today.

Simple words full of the power to sustain us.

He will rescue you my friend...

He will carry you through this day.

December 8, 2018 Our prayer for our loved one today:

Isaiah 46:4 NIV [4] I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.

Lord you are HE! You are the great I am. You are the One who loves us and we thank you because you are FULLY trustworthy. Abba Father, sustain us today. Give us the strength to walk through this day in Your peace, Your joy, Your power. Lord, you know (our loved one), for you created (him/her). We ask that you carry (our loved one) through this day. Watch over (him/her), protect (him/her). And sustain (our loved one). Give (him/her) this day, (his/her) daily bread. Meet (his/her) needs whatever they are. And finally Lord, we cry out to you for (our loved one's) rescue. Whatever it is that (he/she) is battling today, we ask that you swoop (him/her) up and wrap (him/her) in your loving arms as only you can. Deliver (him/her) from whatever unknown, unseen forces are holding (him/her) captive. Father, we believe… we KNOW that you are a GOOD God and have the power to change lives. Lord, we ask for your life saving intervention today. We pray this in your Son's precious name.

Love Never Fails

He sees the load you are carrying today..

The weight of it all, the bones crushing underneath it.

He sees the fear in your eyes…

The images of death and dying.

He sees the doubt that you have…

That life will never get any better than this.

And He feels the breath come out of your lungs…

In the resignation and giving up.

And he loves you. He loves you fully. He loves you in the heaviness, the fear, the doubt and the resignation.

And as he loves us, so we are called to love fully in the messiness of it all.

Because love never fails.

December 6, 2018 Our prayer for our Loved One today:

1 Corinthians 13:7 ESV [7] Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Merciful Father, we come to you today knowing….knowing how much you love us. Knowing how much you believe in us. Knowing how much you desire that each one of us step into the fullness you have for us in this life. Lord we ask that you would give is the strength to bear up under the load we are carrying, the imagination to believe the goodness of heaven on Earth today, the power of hope in the restoration of our family and the perseverance to endure any struggle that comes our way today. We pray for (our loved one) today. (He/she) is carrying a boulder that is far too heavy for (him/her). Give (him/her) the strength to bear up under the weight of all that (he/she) is carrying today. Lord, we ask that you will fill (our loved one’s) mind with the dreams and visions for (his/her) future that you have given (him/her) so (he/she) can begin to walk in that truth. We pray that you would fill (our loved one’s) heart to overflowing with the hope that only begins to well up as a result of your love. And we ask that you would fill (our loved one’s) spirit with the determination to endure through the struggles, knowing that just beyond this mountain (he/she) is climbing are your streams of living water. Lord, we know that love never fails. Lord, we receive this gift from you today and pray these things in your holy name. Amen.

I Will Lead Them Home

God never sleeps.  He is always watching over us.  And his heart grieves when one of his children goes astray.  Just like a shepherd who won't rest if one of his sheep has gone missing, so our Lord won't relent until his child is back in his arms.

He is looking for them now my friends.  He is searching for his lost sheep to bring them home.   And as he calls out their names, he is waiting for them to respond and say "Yes Lord."

December 5, 2018 Our Prayer for our Loved One Today:

Ezekiel 34:11-13 NIV [11] “ ‘For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I myself will search for my sheep and look after them. [12] As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness. [13] I will bring them out from the nations...and I will bring them into their own land.

Father God, we come before you today in pain.  Broken. At the end of our own understanding.  But thankful because we know we can completely trust your word.  Lord, we hold on to the belief that the promises of scripture will come to pass.  Lord, thank you today that you promise to search after (our loved one) and look after (him/her).  Lord, just as a shepherd looks after his scattered flock, we ask that you will look after (our loved one) and that you will rescue (him/her) from the place where (he/she) is at today, a place of clouds and darkness.  Lord, today bring (our loved one) out of that foreign place (he/she) is living in and deliver (him/her) back to (his/her) home to (his/her) family.  Lord we know that nothing is impossible with you and we ask that this deliverance comes today.  Lord we pray this in your son's Holy Name!  Amen!

He is our Lighthouse

Recently I got a phone call.  Not one that was unexpected but one that was hard to get either way.  And my co-dependent natural instinct is to want to get my hands in the mix and "fix" things.  My will be done, right?

And then I realized that I had taken my eyes off of the one who truly can fix this situation.  Fear, worry, the need to take control, the need to fix, the depression that can come when things don't go our way...

These are ALL things that occur when we forget who is really God.

He is...

And I am not.

He is the lighthouse that guides us.  He is the refuge in the storm.  He is where I draw my strength and comfort from.  And today I'll pray that my loved one will be led back to the light.

December 4, 2018 Our Prayer for Our Loved One Today:

Psalm 141:8 NIV [8] But my eyes are fixed on you, Sovereign Lord; in you I take refuge....

Oh Abba Father, we come to you today weak, tired and lost.  Not able to see what's in front of us because of the storms that are raging around us.  Lord, we know that the only way through the storm is to keep our eyes fixed on you, to not lose sight of the light that is always there to guide us.  And Lord, today we humbly ask that (our loved one) would make that decision, that decision to fix (his/her) eyes on you.  Lord we ask that You, in your sovereignty would guide (our loved one) back to a place of safety and refuge in You alone.  Lord, protect (him/her), keep (him/her) safe through in the darkness and bring (him/her) back to calm waters.  We know this is Your desire and we believe that it will happen.  We ask this in Your Son's precious name.  Amen!
