The Day After

The day after.  The day after the darkest day in history.  A day of great grief.  A day of loss.  A day of confusion.  And Mary, sweet Mary.  A mom, just like all moms.  She believed that what He had promised was true, yet now her son was gone.

She was crushed.  Devastated.  Full of angst and disappointment.  Full of sorrow.  She was told by God her son was going to be the King of Kings.  And he had just been crucified on an old wooden cross.

And you may be Mary today.  You may be experiencing many of the same emotions as Mary did on that fateful day.

WHERE ARE YOU GOD?????   THIS IS NOT WHAT I HAD PLANNED???  I THOUGHT YOU WERE GOOD???  YOU PROMISED!!!!!

But like us on this day, she couldn't see what was going to happen the NEXT day.  She couldn't begin to comprehend, to even begin to understand what God was going to do in just 24 short hours.

God IS here my friends.  He is with you in this dark valley that you walk through . He is with your loved one as they are walking through the darkest of valleys.

And the HOPE.  The HOPE that we have is in what happened the next day.  The hope is in the promises, the assurance that we KNOW He never leaves our side.

July 16, 2018 Our prayer for our loved one today:

Psalm 23:1-6 NIV [1] The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. [2] He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, [3] he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. [4] Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. [5] You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. [6] Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Thank you Lord that you are (our loved one’s) shepherd and in You (he/she) will have everything (he/she) needs for an abundant life.  Lord, as I pray that (our loved one) will rest in You today I ask that you quiet (our loved one’s) spirit and refresh and restore (our loved one’s) soul.  Lord, I feel today that (our loved one) is walking through the darkest of valley's, but I THANK YOU that you are always with (him/her) and that because of that, I have nothing to fear.  We ask that your rod would protect (our loved one).  And with your staff, draw (our loved one) near to you.   Lord comfort (our loved one) as only you can.  You faithfully provide for (him/her) a table, a feist even before (his/her) enemies, to the point where (his/her) cup overflows with abundance!  Lord, thank you that your goodness and your mercies will follow (our loved one) all of the days of (our loved one’s) life and for the amazing promise that (he/she) will dwell with you in your house forever, eternally.  Lord, we thank you and praise you for all of these things today.  In Jesus Name!  Amen.

The Day

The day.

The darkest day in history.  The day He took all of the ugly in this world and placed it on His shoulders.

He died for you and me.  AND he died for the drug addict, the prostitute, the adulterer, the hater, the dealer, the rebellious lost cause.  He did it for all of us.

He did it so that we could be set free...

He did it so we could be healed...

He did it so we could have peace....

He did it to bring abundant life.

He did it so that we could come to him and receive all of those things and more.

Our prayer for our loved one today:

Isaiah 53:4-5 NIV

[4] Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. [5] But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.

Lord God, we come to your throne today broken, in pain and suffering.   We know that you were stricken and afflicted  to bring us redemption, healing restoration and freedom.  Lord, we know this is available not just for us but for (our loved one) as well.    You were pierced for every one of (our loved one's) transgressions, You were crushed for (our loved one's) iniquities; the punishment that You bore, that was on You is what will bring (our loved one's) peace.   Lord, by Your wounds (our loved one) will be completely healed and restored.  We believe, without doubt that this is your perfect plan for all of us.  We pray that your plan will be fulfilled on this day Lord and we pray this in Your Son's precious name!  Amen!

He Comes with Healing

For so many years, in the middle of all of the pain, it was difficult to picture an outcome that included my loved one being healed.

When our home was crazy and chaotic, It was hard to imagine our home with peace and security.

But that is God’s desire for us and for our loved ones.  His promise is to bring healing into our lives.  And I will tell you that while we pray this over our loved ones He can give that to us LONG before our loved ones ever choose to change their lives.

YOU are “His people.”  You are the one today that he wants to bring health and healing to.  And one day, in His absolute perfect timing He will bring it to your loved one as well...

And you will be ready.

July 14, 2018 Our prayer for our loved one today:

Jeremiah 33:6 NIV

[6] “ 'Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing.... I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security.

Oh Lord, we love you.  And we trust you.  Even when it hurts so bad, and it's so hard to believe, we trust the promises in your word.  Lord, your word says YOU are our Jehovah Rapha, our great healer.  And today we pray that healing over (our loved one).  We believe that you alone have the power to make us whole.  That you will heal (our loved one) and that you will allow (our loved one) to enjoy abundant peace and abundant security.  We claim peace over (our loved one), we claim safety over (our loved one) and we claim LIFE over (our loved one).  Lord, we thank you that according to your word it's already been done.  Today fill us with that same peace and security to trust and not doubt as we surrender (our loved one) and give (him/her) to you today.  We pray this in Jesus precious name.  Amen!

Abundant Life

There are 3 things that cause destruction in our lives...

- The fact that we live in a fallen world

- Our own flesh and free will

- The destruction of the enemy

The enemy's tactics are a real and present danger.  He wreaked havoc in so many lives.  Your life may be one of them.

But in the middle of the chaos and craziness, we get to choose.  We get to choose what we are going to believe and how we are going to walk through each day.   Are we going to succumb to the enemies lies and wounds that he inflicts?  Or are we going to believe truth and walk in that truth?  Are we going to allow him to steal our joy, kill our spirit and destroy our families or are we going to fight back with peace, mindfulness and love?

So my friends, today set out to WIN that battle you are in.  Be alert, put on your full armor and wear hope, love and grace.

God wants you to walk in abundance!

July 13, 2018. Our prayer for our loved one today!

John 10:10 NIV [10] The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Lord, we cry out to you today on behalf of our children who are lost and dying.  We know we are in a battle.  But we thank you that you are fighting for us and in you we are victorious!  Lord, there is a thief who has come to steal (our loved one), to kill (our loved one's) spirit and to destroy (our loved one) and our family.  Lord we believe that You have come so that (our loved one) may have LIFE and receive it in all of it's fullness!  We pray against the evil forces that have their grip around (our loved one's) heart today and pray that You will reach down and grab ahold of (him/her), pull (him/her) up and draw (him/her) to you.  We believe in your power to help (our loved one) overcome!  We declare today that this battle will be won in Jesus mighty name!  Amen.

Shout it from the rooftop

Sometimes a single verse can pack so much power.  This is one of those.  There is so much truth in these words.

First is says "no", none, not even 1 weapon forged against us will prevail.

Then it says we are to refute every tongue that accuses us.  We HAVE to counter the lies of the enemy with truth!  We can not buy into the lies that the enemy tells you about you or your loved one.

Finally, it says this is your God given heritage.  Your heritage from The Lord is eternal life through Christ, the fruits of the spirit.  Love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control and freedom and abundance in the here and now.

Don't let the enemy steal any of that from you today.

Oh and by the way...when I pray these words, I shout them from the rooftop.

July 12, 2018  Our prayer for our loved one today:

Isaiah 54:17 NIV

[17] no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,

Father God, we believe that you that you have established us in righteousness.  We believe that your promises are true.  Lord, we speak life and truth over (our loved one) today.  In Christ Jesus we proclaim this promise that NO WEAPON FORGED AGAINST (our loved one) or anyone else in our family will prevail!  We refute any lie against (our loved one) and denounce any accusation against (him/her).  We accept the heritage that you have given us and (our loved one) through Christ Jesus our Lord.  We pray that our whole family would walk in the knowledge of the truth of your love, your forgiveness and your abundant life today.  In Jesus Name we pray!  Amen

New Mercies

Those words from a sweet mama, sitting across from me with tears streaming down her face.  “I feel like such a failure.  It seems when it comes to dealing with my loved one, I do everything wrong.”  I understood her feelings all to well.  My response to her was that we all have.  Walking through the valley of the shadows is dark, difficult and lonely.  There is no guidebook or manual.  And we fail.

And there is grace.  There is grace because of what He did for us on the cross.

And as we receive His grace, we must pass it on.  We must remember that they need grace too.  The ones you love...they need grace.

And His word says, "Your mercies are new every morning."  We get to start over.  We get to push the reset button.  And there is no limit to how many times we can do that.  Because His mercies are infinite.

I pray today that we would be easy on ourselves, that we would step into all the grace that He has for us.  And as we receive His grace I pray we would be able to extend it to the ones who need it the most.

July 11, 2018  Our prayer for our loved one today:

Lamentations 3:22-26 NIV  [22] Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. [23] They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. [24] I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.” [25] The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; [26] it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

Lord God, we praise you today because your love for us and your love for (our loved one) is great and vast and wonderful! Lord I believe that you pour your love down on us continually!  Because of your great love we don't have to be consumed by the difficulties we face.  Lord, we pray that (our loved one) will not be consumed by (his/her) situation.  Lord we pray that (our loved one) would be enveloped by your love and your compassion, because they NEVER fail!  Thank you that your mercies for us and for (our loved one) are new every morning, every minute actually.  Thank you that your faithfulness in (our loved one's) life is great, is massive really!  Abba daddy, you are MY portion. I will wait patiently for you because I trust that you are faithful!  We know that you are always good to those who hope in you.  We wait with that hope for (our loved one's) life to change as (he/she) chooses to seek You.    Lord we wait quietly, expectantly for (our loved one's) salvation, both (his/her) eternal salvation and (his/her) salvation and deliverance from the strongholds in (his/her) life.  We pray this in Jesus Name!  Amen.

Light in the Darkness

One of the great privileges of my life is that I am with the broken, lost, least and left out almost daily.  I am with people who’s families have given up on them, who are often considered the lepers of our society.

Not long ago I met “J.”  He had lost everything.  His job, his girlfriend and potentially his freedom.

And I was with him because he wanted help.  He wanted change.

He had truly experienced that moment...

The moment where God’s light had shown down on him and he realized he wanted the new life that comes with surrender.

So why not us?  Why not our loved one?

Today I am going to believe that light will shine through the darkness.  That He is at work and that somewhere, someone we've been praying for,  will have that moment.  That breakthrough moment that changes their life,  That leads them to the path of peace.

July 10, 2018  Our prayer for our loved on today:

Luke 1:78-79 NLT
[78] Because of God's tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, [79] to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide us to the path of peace."

Father God, we thank you today that you are a God of tender mercy.  You gave us a sunrise today, the morning light.  And Lord we believe that your Holy light is about to break upon (our loved one).  Lord, shine the light on (him/her).  (Our loved one) is sitting in the darkness Lord, in the shadows of death.  Lord we pray today that Your light would guide (our loved one) on to the path of peace.  The peace that goes beyond understanding.  The deep peace that can only come from you.  We BELIEVE that your son, the light came for every one of us and we trust that it will shine on (our loved one) in your perfect timing.  Thank you for your precious promises!  We agree with it and stand on it, in your son's precious name.  Amen!

He Hears Our Cries

He hears our cries sweet friends.

He listens to our pleas, even from the depths of the pit.

And He is whispering in your ear today...."Do not fear.  I will redeem your life.   I will redeem your loved one's life."

No one is too lost to be saved.

That is the hope I walk in today.

July 9, 2018 Our Prayer for our Loved One today:

Lamentations 3:55-58 NIV

[55] I called on your name, Lord, from the depths of the pit. [56] You heard my plea: “Do not close your ears to my cry for relief.” [57] You came near when I called you, and you said, “Do not fear.” [58] You, Lord, took up my case; you redeemed my life.

Father God, you are our defender Lord.  You guard us and protect us.  Today (our loved one) is in the pit.  Lord, we pray that (he/she) will call on Your name from the depths of the deep, that dark hole (he/she) is encased in.  Lord, hear our plea for relief, hear (our loved one's) plea for relief...(his/her) cry for help!  We know that you come near to us when we call to you!  Abba daddy, draw near to (our loved one).  Whisper in (his/her) ear..."Do not fear."  We ask that you take up (our loved one's) case and that today You redeem (our loved one's) life, as only you can do.  Lord, we pray this prayer in your Son's precious name.  Amen

Giving Thanks

In the middle of the ugly...it is so easy to focus on the negative, the bad, the fear, the darkness.  So, every week I try at least once, to post a prayer where we really aren't asking for anything, but just giving thanks...

Giving thanks for the beautiful one that is struggling today, that you love so much.  And giving thanks for our circumstances even in the middle of the darkest valley.

Because when we stop and allow ourselves to be filled with gratitude it pushes the pain and the hate and the fear and all that ugly right out of us.

And it allows His light to shine in and through us.

May you basque in his love and light today.   And may it overflow to everyone around you.

July 8, 2018  Our prayer for our loved one today:

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV

[16] Rejoice always, [17] pray continually, [18] give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Lord, today is a difficult day for so many of us.  For most, there is an empty spot at our tables and in our hearts.  Lord, we know of no other way to get through the difficulties then to press into you and give thanks.  Today we rejoice! We rejoice in the loved one you gave us and in (his/her) precious life.  Lord, we give thanks.  We give thanks for choosing us to be (our loved one's) family and for giving us this precious one.  And Lord, we will pray continually until (our loved one) is home and fully alive in Christ Jesus our Lord.    We thank you that we have a God we can come to, who hears our prayers and who gives us the power and strength to walk through this day.   We pray today in your Son's precious name.  Amen

It Has Already Begun

I’ll never forget the day my son broke his femur.  He had already been struggling so much and the one thing that gave him confidence and peace was playing on that rugby field.  And as they were stabilizing him, giving him IV pain killers I truly thought I was going to throw up.  The waves of nausea caused by the fear for my son’s future physically gripped me.  And all I could think that day was “Really God?  This is what you have for my son’s future?”

And for a very long time I wrestled with God over that event and the spiral that it caused.  All I could do in that season was press in.  Lean on the One who I had grown to trust.

Some days we just have to gut it out with our faith.  We battle with God and yell and scream and say "Really God?  This is what you had in mind."

And then we open the word and he calmly reminds us that he is ALWAYS at work and that he ALWAYS has something new for us and he will ALWAYS work things out for the good.  And his character is ALWAYS love!

And we cling to those promises day after day when life can get so hard that we can hardly breathe and there are no tears left.

This is hope.

July 8, 2018  Our prayer for our loved one today:

Isaiah 43:18-20 NLT

[18] "But forget all that- it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. [19] For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. [20]  Yes, I will make rivers in the dry wasteland so my chosen people can be refreshed.

Father God, we come before you today trusting.  Trusting that your promises are real and true.  Trusting that you have the bigger picture and already know the end game.  When we can't hold on to anything else, we hold on to that.  Lord we know that nothing can compare to what you are going to do in (our loved one's) life!  We believe that you are about to do something new, something amazing in (our loved one). Yes Lord!  You have already started it!  Lord we believe that you will make a pathway through the wilderness so that (our loved one) can come to you.  And you will create rivers in the dry wasteland of (his/her) life so that (our loved one) will be refreshed and made new in You!  Lord we believe that you are at work right now to restore our lives and our families to the abundant promised land you have waiting for all of us.  Lord, we are thankful.  We pray this promise and agree with it in your Son's precious name.  Amen

A New Heart

Recently I had the honor of doing outreach for a non-profit at our Federal Women's Prison in our state.  90% of the women in this prison are in there as a result of their addictions, directly or indirectly.

Almost every woman who stopped and spoke to me about their recovery talked about how God was the one who was changing them.  How His love was transforming them.  That God was taking their stony, hard hearts and turning their hearts in to hearts of flesh.

The HOPE on their faces was visible.  The excitement of the prospect of a new life was palpable.

My friends, God is EVERYWHERE and in ALL circumstances.  There is no place, no street corner, no jail cell, no drug house, nowhere and no one that is out of the reach of our God.

July 6, 2018 Our prayer for our loved one today:

Ezekiel 36:26-28 NIV

[26] I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. [27] And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. [28]...you will be my people, and I will be your God.

Lord, we come before you this morning knowing that you are the great physician.  Lord, you took our pain and our infirmities and nailed them on the cross with you.  Lord, I pray today that you will perform "open heart surgery" on (our loved one).  Lord, we pray today that you will give (our loved one) a new heart and put a new spirit in (him/her).  Lord we ask that you would remove (our loved one's) heart of stone and give (him/her) a heart of flesh.  Lord, we ask that you put a new spirit in (our loved one) and move (our loved one) to follow your decrees and desire to keep you laws.  Lord, we look forward to the day when (our loved one) comes back to you and (he/she) will be your people again and you will be (his/her) God!  We are confident in your perfect plan for (his/her) life.  We ask this in your Son's precious name!  Amen!

Keep Them Safe Oh, Lord

A prayer for safety and protection for our loved one today.

Lord, keep my loved ones safe...

Hide them in Your precious shelter...

And one day...

Set them high on your rock...

To triumphantly sing Your praises and shout for joy!

July 5, 2018  Our prayer for our loved one today:

Psalm 27:4-5 NIV [4] One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. [5] For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.

Father God, there is one thing that I ask of you this morning Lord, one thing that I seek; that (our loved one) would dwell in YOUR house all of the rest of the days of (his/her) life, that (our loved one) would gaze upon your beauty Lord and that (our loved one) would seek you in Your temple.   And I pray Lord that in (our loved one’s) day of trouble that You would keep (him/her) safe in Your dwelling;  that you would protect (our loved one) in the shelter of Your sacred tent and that You would set (our loved one) high upon a rock.  I pray that (our loved one) would sing your praises forever!  Lord I humbly ask that You hold (our loved one) in the palm of your hand today.  In Jesus name I pray.  Amen!

Happy Freedom Day

Today our country celebrates our freedom.  But freedom is a funny thing...

You see, we can be "free."  Able to move about, able to experience the liberties our country protects.  Able to think and do what we choose.  And we can be completely lost and in bondage!

And we can be a prisoner in chains, in the dirtiest filthiest jails and prisons, living in the worse conditions AND WE CAN BE FREE, truly free.

You see freedom is a condition of the spirit and soul NOT our external circumstances.

And the only way to be truly free is to surrender.   To lay all of our "rights" and our expectaions, our fears and our failures, our hurts and our anger.... To lay them all at the foot of the Cross.

Then you will truly be FREE!

July 4, 2018 Our prayer for our loved one today:

Galatians 5:1 NIV

[1] It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Thank you Lord!  Thank you that you love us beyond measure!  Thank you that you had a perfect plan for each one of us to live freely when you sent your son.  He was broken so we could be healed.  Lord He came to set me free and He came to set (our loved one) free!  Lord, my prayer today is that (our loved one) would embrace that freedom.  I pray (he/she) would stand firm today and allow you to remove, once and for all, the yoke of slavery from (his/her) shoulders, never again to bear that burden.  Lord, we praise you today for your power to break every chain!   We pray this in Jesus precious name!  Amen

Truth

The lies of the enemy will hold us captive.

Freedom comes when we believe the truth.

The truth is....God LOVES you!

The truth is....God LOVES your prodigal more than you do!

The truth is....there is NO condemnation through Christ!!!

The truth is....He is able to break any and every chain!!!

The truth is...NO weapon forged against you or your loved one’s can prevail.

Believe these truths and you will walk in FREEDOM today!!!

July 3, 2018  Our prayer for our loved one today.

John 8:32 NIV

[32] Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Lord, we come to You in love and adoration today with a heart of gratitude.  Because Your word gives us hope!  Lord, we know in our hearts that we can fully put our trust in You and You alone.  Today we pray that you will reveal TRUTH to us and to (our loved one).  Lord, we believe that where Your truth exists, chains will be broken and (our loved one) will be set free!  Lord, we pray against any lies that we or (our loved one) might be believing.  Lord, give us clarity and purpose and give us the power and strength to walk in that truth today.  We pray this in your son's precious name!  Amen.

Send out Your Light and Truth

Yeah....this.
THIS is as real as it gets...
Pain...
Darkness..
The lost causes...
The abandoned...
The hopeless cases...
The smell of certain death...

And then, the quiet whisper of our Abba Daddy that says...

I am with you.   I have redeemed you.  I will save you.

May you hear that whisper today.   May your loved one hear it today as well....those words that say “you are loved.”

July 2,  2018  Our prayer for our loved one today:

Psalm 88:1-8, 89:1 MSG
[1-8] God, you're my last chance of the day. I spend the night on my knees before you. Put me on your salvation agenda; take notes on the trouble I'm in. I've had my fill of trouble; I'm camped on the edge of hell. I'm written off as a lost cause, one more statistic, a hopeless case. Abandoned as already dead, one more body in a stack of corpses, And not so much as a gravestone--- I'm a black hole in oblivion. You've dropped me into a bottomless pit, sunk me in a pitch-black abyss. I'm caught in a maze and can't find my way out, blinded by tears of pain and frustration.  Your love, God, is my song, and I'll sing it!  I'm forever telling everyone how faithful you are.  I'll never quit telling the story of your love.

Lord God, we cry out to you today because you are our last chance!  Lord, we spend day and night on our knees before you.  Lord, we pray on behalf of (our loved one).  Lord, we ask that you put (our loved one) on your salvation agenda!  Lord, take note of the trouble (he/she) is in.  Lord, my heart knows that (our loved one) has had (his/her) fill of trouble.  (he/she) is camped on the edge of hell.  Most have written (him/her) off as a lost cause, as one of the statistics, as a hopeless case.  Lord, many have abandoned (our loved one) as already dead, one more body one more statistic.  Lord (our loved one) is in a black hole today, in a bottomless pit, an abyss.  (He/she) is caught in a maze of destruction that (he/she) can't get out of.  Lord, (he/she) is blinded by tears of pain and frustration.  But Lord, we believe in your precious love.  We believe you will save (our loved one).  Lord, you are faithful and one day ((our loved one) will sing of your love and never quit telling the story of how you saved (him/her).  Lord, we pray this prayer today with confidence!  We ask these things in your mighty, mighty name.  Amen.

Light and Truth

In the middle of all of the ugly...

It is so easy to forget to thank God for all that we have.  And if we were to be honest, it's sometimes hard just to find things to thank God for with our loved one.

But we MUST do it anyway...

Focus on who they are in Christ...

It is the one sure way to change our heart...

From anxiety to peace...

From anger to calm...

And from the darkness of hate to the light of love...

On this Sunday, I pray love and light into your lives.  I pray love and light into my loved ones life.

July 1, 2018  Our prayer for our loved one today:

Ephesians 1:16-18 NLT

[16] I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, [17] asking God,  Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God. [18] I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called-his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.

Lord, I confess that in the middle of the ugliness in my life, it is difficult to give thanks.  I grumble.  I complain.  My thoughts often go to the difficult things in my life and not all the good you have given me.  And Lord, while finding gratitude in these trials is not easy, I know that you are more than able to fill me with a heart filled with it.  Father God, I will not stop giving thanks to You for my (loved one).  I will pray for (him/her) constantly.  I ask today that you would give (our loved one) spiritual wisdom and insight so that (our loved one) might come to a knowledge of You!  I pray that (our loved one's) heart will be flooded with light so that (our loved one) can understand the confident hope that You can give (him/her) because You have given (loved one) a rich and glorious inheritance!  Thank you Lord for the work you are doing in (our  loved one's) life.  We pray this today in Your Son's Precious and Holy Name! Amen!

The Lord is Always with You

Yesterday a sweet sister called in crisis.  Her husband had asked her to leave even though he was the one that was abusing substances.  She was despondent.  Her words struck me so deeply.  “How do I get through this?  How do I wake up tomorrow morning?”

It is one thing to say we trust when life is easy, when times are good. It is an entirely other thing to find joy in the middle of the struggles.

I reminded her of these words...”He will not leave your soul among the dead.”

Through the difficulties in my own life, that has been my hearts cry.   That in Him I will find peace and a deep joy even in the midst of the most difficult circumstances.

I pray today that you too, will be able to find the strength to walk in the peaceful assurance of His promises.... that He will never, ever leave your soul among the dead.

And that He will fill you with great joy!

I pray today He would do the same for our loved ones.  That they will rest in His safety and peace.

June 30, 2018. Our prayer for our loved one today:

Psalm 16:8-11 NLT
[8] I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. [9] No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice. My body rests in safety. [10] For you will not leave my soul among the dead...11] You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.

Lord, we come to you today longing to feel your presence.  Longing for your assurance.  We come to you pressing in to your promises because life is so painful and difficult.  God we know that you are always with us and you are always with (our loved one).  Lord, we pray that for today you will give strength to (our loved one) and (he/she) will not be shaken.  We pray that (our loved one) will somehow know that you are right there beside (him/her).  Lord, today please allow (our loved one's) body to rest in YOUR safety Lord.  Lord we believe that you will not leave (our loved one's) soul among the dead but will show (our loved one) the way of LIFE everlasting!  Lord we pray that you will grant (our loved one) the joy of being in your presence and the pleasure of living with you forever!  Lord, we pray this today in Jesus Holy Name!  Amen.

Nothing Can Seperate us from God's Love

One of the things that I know many of us have struggled with is not just dealing with the stronghold of addictions or mental health issues, but that in many cases, our loved ones walk away from their faith.

So friends, if you are struggling with this today, please hear me when I say this...

NOTHING can separate us from God's love.  NOTHING. Not one thing you do or I do or our loved ones do can change that.  He loves us immeasurably more than we could ever imagine.  And he loves our loved ones right now, right where they are at no matter how fast they are running from him.  So be assured, that NEVER EVER changes.

And as we are to love like our Heavenly Father, my heart is to demonstrate that same steadfast love.   Do I love my prodigal in a way, that when he chooses to change, he will want to come home to the Lord?

I pray today that you will walk in this assurance.

NOTHING, NOTHING can separate us from His love!

June 29, 2018 Our prayer for our loved one today.  As you pray, put your loved one's name in the blanks:

Romans 8:37-39 NIV
[37] No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. [38] For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, [39] neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Lord, we come before you today grateful.  Grateful for your promises and for your son's death on the cross.  Because Lord, we believe these words today.  That in ALL things (our loved one) can be more than a conqueror because of YOU who loves (him/her) immensely!  Lord, we are convinced that NOTHING...not death or life, angels or demons, not the present or the future or ANY powers; not heights or depths or anything else in all of creation could EVER separate (our loved one) from your love that is in Christ Jesus.  Oh Lord, it is easy to love the lovable,  but there are days when I am unlovable and (our loved one) is unlovable.  We THANK YOU today that Your love is constant and exorbitant and never-ending.  We pray today that (our loved one) will feel that love raining down on (him/her).  And we ask Lord, that you would fill my heart with that kind of love for (our loved one).  We thank you and praise you and ask these things in Jesus precious name.  Amen!!!

Should you shield the valleys from the windstorms...

"Should you shield the valleys from the windstorms, you would never see the beauty of their canyons."
--Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

Time teaches us about the twofold connection of suffering and wisdom. For every loss, we've gained something new. We are learning that our pain makes us wise over time, but while we are in its midst we often feel alone and entrapped. We sometimes can make no sense out of our suffering - neither its depth nor its seeming unfairness - and we may even turn our backs on our Higher Power. We've only survived the darkness by stumbling through it each day. But in recovery we have gradually allowed ourselves to accept comfort from others, and their words help us in times of desolation.

We are learning that some pains can't be healed, but instead must be endured until they run their course. Sometimes the only hope we have is the deep knowledge that our Higher Power will give us no more than we can handle today. With that help and comfort, we can endure and find peace.

"Today let me trust that - even though it may feel painful - my recovery has begun."  ~Anonymous
